Parti Standard
Poodles, are true Poodles, not cross breeds or Poodle mixes. The
base colour is always white, with darker patches of another colour on their
bodies. These markings can range from a small area to larger areas on their
bodies. Sometimes Parti Standard Poodles can have ticking through out the coat
too. Ticking is very tiny freckles of another colour in the white parts of the
coat. Usually the ticking is not seen on Parti
Standard Poodle puppies
when they are born. The ticking usually develops around the 6th week or even
later. No two Standard Parti Poodles are the same, they may look the same to the
naked eye but will have a different marking somewhere on their coats to make
them truly unique piece of art.
Parti Colored Standard Poodles have been in existence throughout history, dating
back to the 1500's. Writings, drawings, and paintings from the 1700's and 1800's
have many examples of the Parti Coloured Poodle. The most common being white
with black, but other colours include white/silver, white/blue, white/chocolate,
white/red, white/apricot and even white and cream although this colour does not
show the parti markings well and most people mistake them for a white Poodles
with cream ears. For historical references to the parti-colored Poodle, please

bred from solid coloured parents. United Kennel Club of America and some other
countries around the world allow Parti Poodles to be shown in conformation.
